Colchester, Essex

This project involved the construction of a full-width rear extension to a mid-terrace, relatively new-build home in Colchester. While contemporary in nature, the scheme presented significant logistical challenges due to restricted access and limited height clearance along the access road, requiring every stage of the build to be carefully coordinated and meticulously planned to ensure successful delivery.

All structural elements of the project were managed in-house, from initial planning and design coordination through to groundworks, excavation, steelwork installation, and construction. The extension was designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing property, creating a generous new open-plan living space that responds directly to the evolving needs of the family.

Alongside the new extension, the existing ground floor was fully refreshed and remodelled to create a cohesive and functional layout throughout. Works included new flooring and redecorating across the home, ensuring a unified aesthetic between old and new. The project also extended into the exterior, with landscaping works, new patio installation, and close collaboration on the external design to bring the client’s vision to life.

This project was a true test of comprehensive site management, requiring the coordination of a wide range of subcontractors across multiple trades, including groundworkers, steel fabricators, bricklayers, plumbers, and electricians. The successful outcome reflects a high level of organisation, technical expertise, and collaborative working, resulting in a modern, light-filled family home that the clients were delighted with.
